Why ?

So, why are we assigning a Chromebook to every student at MHS?

We're not distributing Chrome books just to "have more tech stuff," or doing it just because other schools are. There are valid, educational reasons for students to have access to reliable, user-friendly devices.

Having personal technology in the hands of our students gives them access to current tools for learning. They can research, create, organize and present their schoolwork in ways unimaginable just a few years ago.

With technology woven seamlessly into the learning process, students are no longer required to simply sit passively in a classroom. They must think / act / do / learn in the classroom, just as they will in the “real world.”

One of our main goals at MHS is to prepare students for college or career when they graduate. Having dedicated technology access at school will help them be successful as they continue learning beyond high school:

From a practical / cost standpoint, if we added a cart of Chromebooks to each individual classroom at MHS, instead of assigning one to each student, we would end up with twice as many computers as students!

Assigning a specific Chromebook to a student for their entire four years at MHS also helps promotes responsibility, and encourages students to take care of their computers.
