Before receiving a Chromebook
- Students and parents must read & sign the MHS Parent/Student Agreement 2019/20. We may accept digital payment & signatures - see the Home page for details
- To sign online, please use our ParentSquare system or download the app & sign up.
- Pay a $25 annual usage fee, or make alternate arrangements with the HS office.
- Payments should be made to HS office
- Scholarships and/or work-programs will be available
- ParentSquare will also allow online payments
The same device will be used by the student all 4 years. For example, if a student gets Chromebook #123456 as a freshman, he’ll keep it until graduation.
Using the Chromebooks
- The Chromebooks must remain on-campus. If a student needs a home device, the library has a limited number of laptops and Chromebooks available for limited time checkout. Chromebooks are tied to the school network, and will NOT work off-campus
- Devices will be stored in carts / storage areas in your last period class. You are responsible for making sure it is plugged in. Classrooms will have extra chargers for emergency charging
- Device is returned in the summer for update / storage
- When in the halls - must be in a case, or backpack. Cases will be available for purchase in the library / tech lab, OR students may purchase their own. Customize your case as you want, but make sure it will fit into the storage/charging area in your last period class.
- No stickers, etc on the Chromebooks themselves. Do not remove MISD's stickers from the devices. The cases can be customized in any way that doesn't violate the Student Code of Conduct.
- Classrooms will have two desktop Chrome devices for students to use in the classrooms when Chromebooks are being repaired.
Damaged devices
- One free hardware repair is allowed each year. This does NOT include replacing the device, but does include accidental damage such as a cracked screen.
- 2nd hardware repair - student pays cost of repair. Labor is free; pay only for parts. School will provide invoice/quote for damages.
- If device destroyed or lost: Student must $100 deductible for replacement.
- While device is being repaired, students will use desktop Chromebase in classroom.
- If technology department determines that device is damaged upon return (end of year) and un-useable, $100 deductible will apply
- Turn damaged devices in to library.
- Librarian collect device, and turn it over to the repair crew
- After repair, CB is returned to Library, and student is notified via email.
- For questions about CB performance, students can ask the Chrome Crew in the former "Internet Lab"
